Call for Papers

The upcoming issue of the Austrian Journal of South-East Asian Studies (ASEAS) 12(1) features an open call for papers.

In recent years, ASEAS has developed to become a well-established interdisciplinary social sciences journal. ASEAS publishes two focus issues per year and invites both established and young scholars to submit cutting-edge research, report about on-going research projects or field studies, publish conference reports, conduct interviews with experts in the respective field, and review books. ASEAS is published as an open access journal without submission fees and is included in large scientific databases, including Scopus. In 2016, ASEAS achieved its first impact factor, acknowledging the high scientific standard of our journal.

ASEAS 12(1) (June 2019) features an open issue, inviting authors from social sciences and humanities as well as area studies to submit high level research articles.

Submissions may focus on:

  • up-to-date research results, ranging from local case studies and thick descriptions to wider socio-economic and political dynamics and conflicts in the region;
  • up-to-date research results that transcend the spatial and political boundaries of South-East Asia, e.g., in the case of linguistics, diaspora groups, or transnational influence;
  • cutting-edge theoretical and methodical discussions that transcend disciplinary boundaries and provide tools for an interdisciplinary understanding of current dynamics in South-East Asia.

Deadline for Submissions: 31 October 2018
